Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

A walk into Venice takes you to the bustling restaurant scene along Washington Boulevard, north of the marina. At The Venice Whaler, the grilled cod tacos and “killer margaritas” are almost as famous as the artists who have frequented there, from the Doors to the Beatles.
Hamburgers at Hinano Cafe on Venice Pier Beach have been making waves since 1962. Enjoy a burger and cold beer, and play pool to jukebox tunes. For a cosmopolitan burger experience, try 26 Beach Restaurant, “home of the sushi burger,” also on Washington Boulevard. Chef Katsu melds American fare with the traditions of his great-grandfather, who started one of Tokyo’s first sushi houses. While in Venice, shop the curated eclectic home décor and clothing of international MODA.

On the sands of the Marina, you can find the perfectly refined dining ambiance of Jamaica Bay Inn’s Beachside Restaurant and Bar. Large windows, French doors, beautiful gardens, and an expansive patio enhance the view and the traditional California cuisine infused with bold Latin flavors.
For hardy fare with steak and seafood, head to The Warehouse Restaurant. It is built like a shipyard with authentic wharf posts, whiskey and wine barrels, shipping crates, rigging, and fishing nets.

Things to Do

The Fisherman’s Village wharf is an idyllic seaboard fashioned after a New England fishing port. Eat ice cream and lobster rolls as you watch sailboats go by, or delight in old-world fine dining from the tranquil outdoor patio of Sapori Italian Restaurant. The promenade at the Village is being expanded to make way for more shops and restaurants.

Nearby Burton Chace Park offers sweeping vistas of the marina from the 10 acres of green island extending into the water. The park has events all year, including Marina Movie nights through the summer.

See spectacular firework shows every Fourth of July on the marina. Many reserve seats at Fisherman’s Village and waterfront restaurants or charter boats under the displays. The community gathers with the same enthusiasm for the annual Holiday Boat Parade competition that lights up the harbor with 50 decorated boats. You can also watch boat races all year long from Fisherman’s Village or Burton Chace Park. People travel from across the state to share in the thrill of premier sailing regattas or to join the races.
